The Arab Association Singapore, also known as Al-Wehdah Al-Arabiah Bi Singhafura (Alwehdah), was officially registered as a voluntary organisation on 11 November 1946. It was established with the primary objective of promoting and enhancing Islamic virtues and education, as well as the use of Arabic Language, to all Singaporeans.
Since it's inception, Alwehdah has also taken on the responsibility of promoting cordial relationships and interaction among Arabs and other ethnicities in Singapore through educational, cultural, social, arts and sports activities. This has been achieved through close co-operation with various government organizations and local institutions, including the National Heritage Board, Yayasan Mendaki, and the Middle East Institute (National University of Singapore), amongst others.
On the social front, Alwehdah organizes numerous activities focused on youth, women issues, sports, and culture. These events are often open to the general public, with the aim at developing better understanding between people of different backgrounds and beliefs
Alwehdah also offers welfare services, especially in the form of financial and social support, to help the poor and needy, the disabled, and the less fortunate in the Arab/Muslim community.
